The emergence and growth of blogs in the late 1990s coincided with the advent of web publishing tools that facilitated the delivery of content by non-tech users who had little knowledge of HTML or computer programming. Previously, technical information such as HTML and File Transfer Protocol was required to publish content on the Web, and early Web users were therefore often hackers and computer lovers. By 2010s, most of the interactive Web 2.0 websites, which allow visitors to leave online comments, and this is the interaction that sets them apart from other static websites. [2] Thus, blogging can be seen as a form of social media. Indeed, bloggers not only produce content that will be posted on their blogs but also often build social relationships with their readers and other bloggers. [3] However, there are some great reading blogs that do not allow for comment.
Many blogs offer comments on a particular topic or topic, from politics to sports. Others serve as personal online diaries or online product advertising for a specific person or company. A typical blog includes text, digital images, and links to other blogs, webpages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments publicly, and share with other commenters, is a significant contribution to the popularity of many blogs. However, blog owners or writers often rate and filter online comments to remove hate speech or other offensive content. Many blogs are primarily text, although some focus on art (art blogs), photography (photoblogs), videos (video blogs or "vlogs"), music (MP3 blogs), and audio (videos) podcast). In education, blogs can be used as teaching aids; these are called edublogs. Microblogging is another form of blogging, with very short posts.
'Blog' and 'blogging' are now freely used to create content and share on social media, especially when content is remote and one creates and shares content regularly. So, one can keep a blog on Facebook or blog on Instagram.
As of February 16, 2011, there were more than 156 million social blogs. As of February 20, 2014, there were around 172 million Tumblr [4] blogs and 75.8 million WordPress [5] blogs worldwide. According to critics and other bloggers, Blogger is the most popular blogging service in use today. However, Blogger does not provide public statistics.
